New Haven Basketball Courts in COVID-19

With the evolving situation around COVID-19, there are many images that we are seeing — from heart-wrenching to loving.

One personally tough image for me, as someone who has played ball since I was a tiny kid, has been the basketball courts around New Haven without baskets. They were taken down in efforts to promote social distancing. These kinds of actions by the city are critical, but it’s difficult to watch these spaces of joy, triumph, and growth for so many be fundamentally changed.

This afternoon, I went around to take a few pictures of some of the courts — see below.
