Below is my three-minute testimony to the City Plan Commission on the proposed Commercial Corridors Rezoning. Read more here.

I’m speaking alongside others to ask for the City Plan Commission to vote to not move this draft of the rezoning ordinance forward to the Board of Alders.

I have this stance based on two core beliefs:

  1. I believe in an economic development strategy where it is non-negotiable that residents who live in a neighborhood, who know that neighborhood best, get to stay, live, and thrive in that neighborhood.
  2. And I believe in an economic development strategy that is deeply co-created and led by those most affected by the changes in a neighborhood.

I think it’s clear that, in this process, we are not there yet.

I am grateful to the residents, the organizers, and supporters for showing up tonight and the work that they are doing. Thank you, City Plan, for your tireless hard work and efforts. And thank you, City Plan Commission, for listening.
